Formative Assessment Design 1.0


Formative assessments are full of value for both teachers and students — providing students with opportunities to not only learn from their mistakes, but demonstrate their growth. And formative assessment provide teachers with the information necessary to adapt their teaching to best support their students’ growth. Teachers are better prepared to bridge learning gaps that exist. I am excited to use this design opportunity to develop a formative assessment tool for my students that incorporates technology, independence and collaboration, project-based learning, and community involvement. In one of my personal web wanderings, I stumbled upon a program that Brad Flickinger created to support and guide his students’ learning. Flickinger’s techbadges program involves students working toward leveled goals at their own pace and based on personal interests.
